If a property has more than one owner, it can be held by the
owners as "Tenants in Common" or as "Joint Tenants". |
If a property is held as "Tenants in Common" each owner owns a
specific share of the property and can pass their specific share
on to their heirs in their Will when they die. |
If a property is held as "Joint Tenants" each owner owns the
entire property. If one of the owners die, their share
automatically passes to the surviving owners, it cannot be left
in a Will. |
